Today while I was sourcing information and how to videos for encaustic, I found a fantastic artist on youtube...Maggie Ayres. My afternoon was gone looking for as much as I could get of her work.
She has many small videos that all seem to be less that 2 minutes and well worth the view.
She works in textile and sculpture and when seen up close the stitching is so subtle at times it's barely recognizable. She makes cocoons with many layers of fibre and thread, then they're distressed. Of course her words describing what you're looking at is very poetic and I certainly don't do it justice.
If you can take the time, trust me, it's gorgeous.
